| 855700 | 2010-02-08 20:56:00 | Another issues, all these non english speakers, doesn't matter who is around they start blabbing to the guy next to them in Afrikans, Jamaican, Tonga, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Mongolian or Mandarin - that's pretty rude, IMO. There are two languages I will recognize spoken in New Zealand - English and Maori. That's it. If you ain't a tourist, learn one of them. End of story. Don't want to? That's line, **** GTFO. It's that easy. [/rant] So you're saying if you went to eastern europe with your family to work, despite your whole family's first language is english, you would force yourself all to speak the country's native language? Yea, ok... Maybe it was the greatest joke in history or maybe it was they laughing at me and my declined card? I said to them "Wanna share that with us in english?", it shut them up pretty quit. Needless to say I am not amused. Languages other than english do not belong in the workplace in NZ, end of story. (Unless they are translators or need it professionally, etc.) I work at a company that is part of a multinational group, headquartered in Japan. Every so often, Japanese executives come over to kick the tyres and work with the liasons (who are originally from Japan) here. How does it make you feel that they speak Japanese in the office and that I can't understand them? That I see printouts from the printer in Japanese (that I can't read)? I can't help but feel somewhat stupider having read this thread. |

| 855701 | 2010-02-09 01:54:00 | ...... The arrogance of telling us how their home country (which they all willing left for a better life in NZ) is so awesome and how things get done there so awesomely. It quite frankly pisses me off. ....... Cato Could it be that you have never been away from "home"? |
