855078 2010-02-04 08:26:00 Does installing OSX on AMD require extra hacking?
I think the thing is built for Intel CPUs.

855079 2010-02-04 09:48:00 I was also under the impression that it won't work on AMD systems, but hell, it's worth a try !
IMO Firefox is the most complete browser around and its the first thing I install on my Macs.
Some other great apps...for converting video files- "Handbreak ",
ripping and converting audio files- "Max "
and I recommend "Stanza", it'll turn your Mac into a Kindle !!

From what Ive seen on the forums it all depends on what you choose at the setup, I.e. you tick the box which installs files for AMD Cpus and youre away. Make sure you use Voodoo kernels.

855082 2010-02-07 01:43:00 there are different 'distributions' that are made for Intel cpus and then different ones for AMD.

855083 2010-02-07 03:18:00 Personally, I am not contemplating the installation of OSX.
I was merely asking the question to clarify the issue for the others that may be.
Cheers though.
