All the software protections, SecuROM, Safedisc, Starforce etc etc, NONE of them stand up against pirates . So I wonder how much it cost to create and implement these protections that DON'T WORK? If these media companies are worried about losing money, how about they stop spending it on crap that doesn't work? Then, like Paul . Cov said: They've found that enabling consumers to enjoy economical products without strings attached is what sells, and inserting disabling features into their products impeeds sales . Imagine our surprise . . . providing consumers with what they want gets more sales than offering them things they don't want . . . Duh! Their sales will actually increase because everyone won't be getting screwed with their DRM and copy protection which again, are all bypassable\breakable in some way or another . |

MS should wake up and notice that whatever they try and do, it isnt working. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
| 855339 | 2010-02-06 23:35:00 | Exactly, they might as well stop bothering, it would save them money, they'd have time to do something useful, and legitimate copies of windows wouldn't randomly fail WGA for no reason and piss people off. | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 855340 | 2010-02-07 00:43:00 | You can freely d/l a linux distro fom the web, but how many people can't be bothered and go pay someone like DSE $10 'cause its the easier option ? Everyone is trying to hack Windows, by-pass its security functions, copy it and generally mess with MS...but no-one really hacks Linux, why would you, its more fun to add functionality to it. IMO its the business model that's broken. I'll pay for a product that works, does what I want it to, when I want it to,and how I want it to. Take Youtube and the RIAA's attitude to it, issuing take down notices etc, when in fact it has to be one of the greatest marketing tools available, and for free ! |

Tried, and succeeded, thats the prob. Win7 was / is meant to be more secure and is MEANT to detect hacks (obviously, MS didnt do a good job, of doing this either). Even with Vista, the updates that were meant to kill hacks, didnt work. People who used them then, still use them now. MS didnt do anything about blocking them. Because whatever MS do, they'll lose. No matter what they put in place. Why would anyone hack Linux, its free, thats the diff. Its fun depending on WHAT distro of linux you install. And if its not full of bugs |
