| 855313 | 2010-02-09 09:24:00 | I had the same issue with Garmin..maps with the device were out of date (for a new piece of roading in Lower Hutt), entitled to one upgrade that you had to take within 30 days. Downloaded the update and this also did not include the new road. Had a whine at Garmin who shrugged and said "only one update allowed". Bring on Google maps (which is up to date BTW) and free navigation on Nokia phones. These GPS companies need to wake up, continuing this policy when there are now, free alternatives is just going to drive down their value. Also because of Google, I've heard that Tom Tom are doing free map upgrades on selected models in selected locations - investors.tomtom.com So there may be hope for us. Dedicated GPS units are soon going to be a thing of the past, with gps being fitted into other mobile devices. The iphone is a good GPS unit, and uses google maps, so you are using upto date almost real-time maps. I think these GPS manufacturers are just trying to make hay while the sun shines. |

| 855314 | 2010-02-09 10:02:00 | My old Navman gave me the run around on a side road off Ridge Road off Riverhead Coatesville highway today. I gave it a final warning that it was going to fly out the window and it came right. It said turn right then immediately said do a uey had to break out the map to get general direction. Blardy thing did the same in Marys Bay last year. |
