855138 2010-02-04 03:20:00 It's gone all concave at the sides. Went through the menu and there's no adjustment like on a monitor.

That means it's (economically) stuffed, doesn't it?

855141 2010-02-04 03:41:00 You could try whacking it (seriously), nothing to lose. wratterus (105)
855142 2010-02-04 04:29:00 Sometimes with older CRT TVs there are little stick controllers in the rear that ajust the roll, height, width etc might be worth a play! PPp (9511)
855143 2010-02-04 04:55:00 Try googling "pincushion distortion" with the monitor's model number. R2x1 (4628)
855144 2010-02-04 07:07:00 Thanks guys, it had no controls. It was a Philips anyway is 8 years old.
Went into town just now to look at a 26" Panasonic CRT, $100.
Picture dark, contrast and brightness full up, remote slighlty stuffed, colour off too.

Decided aginst it, Decided the whole drive all over the country looking at sick CRTs is depressing.

Stopped at the hated HN on the way back out of town and bought a 32" Bravia 32S550A on tick.
$599 6 months interest free. Yes I'll pay it over 6 months too, still get stuck with the $61 in finance charges.

Yes it isn't HD, don't care.

Husband now having panic attacks over the idea of paying something off.
HUsband also modifiying old TV cabinet with jigsaw, a proper stand is out of the question.

I'll panic over the time payment later when the bills start to arrive..........

Press 062596 information button on the remote control to go into the hidden service menu. There may be a pincushion control in there. Be very careful as that is a serviceman's tool. Write down anything before making a change and try Googling for more information first.

855146 2010-02-04 19:13:00 Look in the Line(Horrizontal) output section for a
small round potentiometer labelled PC or P cushion.
If the distortion is severe you may have a resistor
gone high (carbon) or open circuit ora dry solder
joint under the PCB.

Trace the scan coil connector back to the main board.
This is the area to examine.
