1135029 2010-09-06 02:10:00 W7 - can you still D/L and enter product key after installation. I did the trial with the RC1 but deleted and stayed with Vista. Does the 90 trial still exist? Then can I purchase a product key and activate my installation? Fishb8 (484)
1135030 2010-09-06 02:29:00 Yes and No.

Yes you can download a Trial Windows 7 From here (technet.microsoft.com). But the key it is embedded with the download.

Unless you have an enterprise License then you cant turn it into a full version. You cant buy the enterprise version either as retail.

You cant install a the trial, then enter a home pre for example.
After the 90-day Trial expires, if you wish to continue to use Windows 7 Enterprise, please note that you will be required to purchase and perform a clean installation of Windows 7, including drivers and applications. Please keep this in mind; Windows 7 Enterprise is not available through retail

1135031 2010-09-06 05:14:00 Thanks for that Wainui...my plan won't work as my product key is for W7 Business, not enterprise. Shall stick with Vista for a bit longer. Fishb8 (484)
1135032 2010-09-06 05:25:00 Eh!! There is no Windows 7 Business -- Theres Home premium, Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise (Enterprise is not available to general public) Did find These (www.mydigitallife.info) -- of course you would need your own COA/Key. wainuitech (129)
1135033 2010-09-06 07:27:00 Thanks again - my bad, meant W7 Professional. I have a legitimate COA/key so worth a look. Cheers Fishb8 (484)
1135034 2010-09-06 07:51:00 You can install Pro without a key, you can use it for 30days without having to enter a key/activate. Deimos (5715)
1135035 2010-09-06 08:36:00 Hello,

Windows 7 is really a nice operating system, its user interface is really great. I think it is not good if you are using trail version.

Thanks,
John Farris

1135036 2010-09-08 08:46:00 Well done it and all going good.
But..had to do a clean re-install as wouldn't upgrade from Vista HB to W7 Pro. Sometimes a good clear out is what's needed.
Next question - laptop has Vista Pro - can this be upgraded without a new install?

1135037 2010-09-08 08:56:00 Its meant to be able to, but I think you answered your own Question
Sometimes a good clear out is what's needed. upgrades often fail - for the amount of time it takes, its quicker to save all your data from Vista, wipe the drive and install W7 clean.

1135038 2010-09-08 21:42:00 All running sweetly, loading my applications - What's a good, free alternative to Nero 8 - it's so big but I hardly use most bits? Fishb8 (484)
