857019 2010-02-10 22:00:00 Anyone if there are regulations/guidelines for spraying herbicides in water catchment areas for a town supply?
Our local council gave permission for a farmer to helicopter spray Tordon on the slopes of the stream that supplies out town water - some of the willows right on the stream bank have been affected (leaves browning).
The council didn't want to know about it when I rang saying it was important to get rid of noxious weeds (broome, gorse) and there are no rules saying they cannot do it again - surely that can't be right. Anyone know if there are national guidelines for this sort of thing? Do local/regional councils make up their own rules?

857024 2010-02-10 23:17:00 I dont know, it seems appropriate that highly centralised pyramid structures attack nature. Like sawing off the branch you are sitting on?

Was this on tv lastnight? The guy was saying how roundup + the 'sticking' agent isnt reccomended for use near streams?
