856625 2010-02-09 11:53:00 Those Catch a Cray machines in pubs cause unreasonable or unnecessary pain according the the SPCA:

www.nzherald.co.nz

Oh well, i wonder what the SPCA thinks about people fishing. Catching a fish and putting it into a bucket and leaving it there until you finish fishing, is that causing unreasonable or unnecessary pain?

856626 2010-02-09 18:28:00 Yes its needless stress inflicted on an animal for no reason. prefect (6291)
856627 2010-02-09 20:37:00 it seems we just look the other way most of the time

What about hunting goats with a bow & arrow.
setting dogs on a wild pig,
rodeo's: cant tell me thats in the best interests of animals
poisons that cause slow deaths in rats, possums or whatever
sow crates
castration practices on farms
shark finning
bottom trawling

856628 2010-02-09 21:44:00 I don't see the point of cramming heaps of crayfish where clawed fights are bound to happen inside some small aquarium fitted with an even bigger metal claw that would scare the hell out of a crayfish as it gets picked up. qazwsxokmijn (102)

Disagree Huntin pigs for food ok
Can see your point on rodeos they are banned in poverty rock amazing because the cruel clowns chased down basil brush and hare for fun I think the most despicable sport in the world after cock fighting and bull fighting.
Slow poisons I agree
sow crates agree
castration ring or knife or biting too bad how sad, should use it on humans
shark finning so barbaric its worse than huntin whales
bottom trawling I agree it roots the seabed.

Nothing like going to a Chinese restaurant to see a fish tank half full with cramped crayfish.

We've never went to a Chinese restaurant flash enough to warrant a huge aquarium stuffed with live seafood. :p

But then again, Chinese in general are very negligent in respect to animal welfare.

856633 2010-02-09 23:33:00 Dead right there my Chinese wife when shown exotic creatures only wants to know if you can Makan (eat) them. Were at Mount Bruce a few weeks ago looking at Campbell Island Teal rarest duck on earth and she said it looked tasty.
She does not give a rats arse about whaling and animal cruelty, It might have something to do with the fact every Asian country has the death penalty.
And she likes singing Chicken tonight (ad) song to our chooks was going to dob her to the SPCA lol.

Doubt it. It's probably more likely to be the fact that even up to now many poor Asians are only able to focus on trying to make a living out of despondent circumstances in third world conditions, thus animal welfare is given little thought.
