Just the opposite of the commies who vote labor.

How ironic that you are a business owner...

856833 2010-02-11 00:24:00 The world is still largely in a recession. Ireland was ALL OVER our news 5 years ago as a poster child for what NZ should be as the population is similar. Now Ireland's economy is in complete tatters and they should be so lucky to be where we are atm.

Doesn't matter if Labour or National are in atm, there will be some pain. NZ's income has heavily dropped over the last year well under what we are spending. Now we have to decrease our spending and improve productivity, suck it up!! lol

Yes but we need these farmers and business owners to do well, for the country to make money. Otherwise we are just going to be a country of beneficiaries. Notice how the last government made much of the population beneficiaries with the working for families scheme.

We can thank Australia, NZs rich neighbours, that we haven't yet ended up like ireland.

I thought the workers employ the civil servants and Government. Not that they seem to know that as they will do as they please.

Even us on Super still pay taxes as it happens.

856839 2010-02-11 02:36:00 Well put Chilling Silence.

You explained it very well how the average WORKER would be better off with a tax cut - more pay in his hand and a small increase in GST.

So the idea is to give workers more disposable income that they might save or invest or use to pay off their mortgage etc.

Pensioners will get an increase to compensate the rise. And dole bludgers sickness bludgers (not bashing genuine ones) and solo parents will get an increase in their free hand from taxpayers and workers to compensate for the rise.

I do wish people would look at government policies as to what it will do for New Zealand as a whole rather than just their own circumstances.

A lot of firms will absorb the GST increase. (but not power companies)
