| 857550 | 2010-02-12 05:15:00 | Australia does have its benefits but if I had to make a choice between Australia and NZ, I would pick NZ first. Of course where I am (when I am there) winter rarely drops under 10 with 30 through the day, summer is 35 at night and 45 through the day........wide open spaces.......kangaroo and camel meat on the barbie......or snake....... Frosty Rudd is copping some heat over the flood of boat people arriving and the ETS that he wants to push through to make Australia stand out as a world leading nation combatting *Global Warming*. But if I had to pick between NZ, OZ and the Philippines where I have been based out of for the last 26 years, I would probably have to go with my adopted country of the Philippines for a equal first with NZ for all the fresh mango's and pine apples, whitebait, fresh fish, cheap living and you can have BBQ'ed dog as well, etc. But NZ is still home. Cannot beat the great views and outdoors we have here. And we don't eat frog legs either. The SPCA probably wouldn't allow it anyway. The SPCA in Oz kicked up a fuss recently about the killing of the Cane Toads. |

Every nation has pollution, corruption, social injustice, class systems etc. It's not about presence, but it's extent. And we're doing OK, no matter what PF1 speculation might tell you. Crime here isn't THAT bad. Out homocide rate could do with some serious ironing out though... 2/100k as opposed to Aus' 1.2/100k is embarrassing. You do have to wonder how honest those reports are though... +1 yea you usually find those that are bitching about NZ have not seen much of the world. Also I spend a bit of time in Aussie and Uk forums. it fairly funny watching them bitching about the same things we do here, cost of living, crime, to many emigrants etc, yes even in Australian forums lol. |
