856721 2010-02-09 22:16:00 You have the patience of a saint, pctek! I would have kicked him out on his ear and told him to come back tomorrow if he wanted it fixed.

It's not like there's a lot of options available for him in your part of the world - unless he wanted to travel a bit. But then he most likely would not have been allowed to look over the tech's shoulder....

856722 2010-02-09 22:36:00 Anyway, the look on his face when I explained about undeleting his deleted data off my portable made it worth it.

And no, he got a normal hours bill. So he better not argue it.

You idiot. You should have whacked on at least half as much again for working those hours and for all the harassment. If he doesn't give you a bottle of nice wine or a box of chockies then he's the biggest moron in Southland.

856723 2010-02-09 22:50:00 I hate it when someone stands over me watching while I fix their PC.
Only happens when I go onsite as we don't let anyone into our workshop at the shop unless we need them to show us something on their machine.

856724 2010-02-09 23:25:00 Ditto CYaBro.

I had one guy a few years back call me at around11.50PM on a sunday night - first time I didn't answer the phone - but after the forth time I did.
It was an "urgent" fix needed, the whole PC was dead and he needed it for work the next day.

I said I'd come out but it would cost him extra - he actually had the cheek to say he thought he would get a discount since he lived in Wainui as well  BTW - he mentioned the PC had been "playing up" for the last few weeks.

As I said -- Its almost midnight on a sunday - you have gotten my whole family awake, its urgent, cant wait till tomorrow and you want a discount ???

He said he wasn't paying anything extra, and still wanted a discount- I said I'm not coming out, But I would if he paid the extra - he then advised he would call someone else----- Good luck, have a good night, I'm back to bed. :sleep

Phone rang again about 1 ish -- In the morning I looked at the caller ID record it was his number. No message nothing.

856725 2010-02-09 23:54:00 Fixed someone's PC which kept freezing\unfreezing. Turned out the power connector to the DVD drive was loose, causing the drive to power off randomly and hang up the PC while it re-detected it

After re-tightening, he said "well that looked easy"

I was thinking "yeah, but you had no idea it was the problem, did you?"

856726 2010-02-10 00:58:00 I don't do many PC repair type problems, but I sure get a few hard Internet ones...

An ex-customer wants their name taken off a website they used to own. I used to host it. They sold their business, and I no longer manage the domain, the site or anything else related to it.

So I get this request to change something on a site which no longer exists. Just because they have a cached copy of the site showing old data they think I can change history! *sigh*
