I work for a second hand dealers, and they said i could have an 8gb Iphone that came in, in return for some work i did. I took it home, and popped my prepaid sim card in, and was promptly told my simcard was not compatiable. Hmmmm so i rang vodafone, went down to the store, and got my card changed to a 256k (i previously had a 128k). Came home, plugged it back in..... and wow..... Itunes tells me:the simcard entered in this iphone does not appear to be supported. am i missing something? |

It sounds like an import. Jailbreaking is potentially the easiest way around it, either that or take it in with you to the Vodafone store and get them to activate it there and then :) |

...jailbreaking? sounds illegal, all i want is a iphone without the price tag! If i took it to vodafone would they unlock it? and would it cost me? |

Last time someone stuffed their iphone up (by trying to jailbreaking it), some place wanted to charge $250 to unlock it lol. But we managed to fix it |

Take it in to them and see. If they turn you away, then you may have little alternative to jailbreaking it :-/ That said, they're not exactly going to confiscate it ... in fact half the staff would probably tell you how to fix it, even if they officially "can't" :p |

$80 - Omnitech in Henderson, West Auckland. Not going 3GS, dont need an iphone, this one was free. Rang voda, they reckoned it was imported, possibly from US. I just want it cos it looks cool, but not worth the cash, even if i did have to pay for it, it retails $399 secondhand. It will call, and text, thats all i need. |
