858702 2010-02-15 22:06:00 It seems that Key is not popular in all circles.

858703 2010-02-15 23:20:00 What should also be of concern about opening up Conservation Estate to mining as well as destruction of same and denial of access, is that virtually all the precious metal mining companies are foreign owned, so as usual NZ would only be paid peanut royalties, with the real money going offshore to the company owners/shareholders.

This can only be so,if the government set it up thus.

Why can't we have a balance, the labour gits in cahoots with stupid Greene's killed Rimu logging, which I know was sustainable, just a question of having half a brain.

858704 2010-02-15 23:39:00 Somehow I was waiting for you to leap to your pals defence mustn't sully Keys name the bus drivers will revolt. Yet the excuses he gave while at the big Gay out were so lame they should be on crutches

I suggest you leave your English class system back in England where it belongs.
Being a bus driver is not looked down on in NZ yet.
If you dont like Nelson or our PM and National government you know what to do.

No way... it is so now and will not be so in future...no National Government or even Labour, would create a government owned mining company so that NZ could retain all the income from mining

This is where the money will go to, as it is now from the Martha mine

You would have to be at least 600 years old to know that rimu logging could be sustainable, maybe 2 or 3 times that even :banana

Edit : and we all know that "recycled" Rimu is a bit of a hem hem cough cough...........

858706 2010-02-15 23:58:00 I am sure knocking over rimu trees is sustainable they can be selectively thinned and old trees about to croak given the chop. prefect (6291)

If you work out, that they get a ,say 15-20% return on their investment and the rest is tax, nothing wrong with that.
If they don't like it,then use another lot.

Had a good mate who was in charge of Rimu logging on the coast,he assured me they did more good than harm.
As they went they killed rats cats, stoats etc,and if the found a unusual Rimu they put metal round it to stop Possum eating it.

They did a very careful plan, which they could show that they could take a manageable amount of Rimu forever.
