859667 2010-02-19 08:42:00 I didn't start smoking in 1965, and I've religiously not started every year since, As time goes by I find it easier to keep on not starting, especially when I'm surrounded by other non-starters. I've been tempted mind, especially after a few drinks when the jokes get rugged and I'm surrounded by other non-starters but I struggle through, taking each day as it comes. Mrs T is a fellow non-starter of course, which gives added rigidity to my backbone because should I break the non-starter habit of a lifetime, the rest of my days would be like three lifetimes in purgatory.

I can't begin to count the money that not-starting has cost me, the constant surplus of money in my wallet has led me down many paths of temptation, and being a habitual, dare I say addicted, non-starter herself, Mrs T is adept at hoovering any surplus she sees after my non-starting costs have been paid.

After all those years of not starting I'm unlikely to give up the habit anytime soom.

Cheers

859668 2010-02-19 08:49:00 Money is over-rated, You can't take it with you when you die, and no one has any idea when they are going to die.

I intend to be very broke and very unhealthy, and I'll be just as dead but no deader as the healthy guy with the money in the bank.

859670 2010-02-19 19:41:00 You're dying anyway, you reek too, you only waste your money on other crap, why don't you start? :)

Fair enough

"Not if I do it right...."

Surely,excessive effort would cause smoking!

859672 2010-02-20 01:32:00 I give up giving up.

Since waking up yesterday, I have had this headache. I popped the pills, but i still got it.
I can't take it.

I can take the insomnia, I can take the craving but the headache is just way too much for me.

Time for a smoke.

It's easy to give up. :-)

859674 2010-02-20 05:45:00 I watched my uncle coughing and gasping, his body bucking, heaving and fighting desperately for each of his last breaths, before the cancer (from the smokes) finally got him. A very ugly way to die.

As for emphysema - it turns powerful people into weak pathetic shells that would blow away if they broke wind. It's all very, very ugly when it catches up with you.
Try looking cool in a wheelchair with an oxygen line running into your nose. Can't be done. It just looks horrible, sad and pathetic.
