2010-02-22 17:33:00 | What gets me is; why south of Taupo? It seems to be a major point in the XT network, if it's failing so much, I have to wonder, is it just the cleaner unplugging something for their vacuum? There are two major RNC nodes in NZ, one in Auckland, servicing the north island up to Taupo, and one in Christchurch servicing the rest of the country south of Taupo. For some reason it always seems to be the Christchurch one failing...

2010-02-22 17:51:00 | It seems the Chch one isn't capable of handling the extreme power of the south Island due to being made in Auckland where as the Auckland one being made there has a lot less to do Auckland not having the power to be above average | gary67 (56) | |

2010-02-22 19:28:00 | I'm actually quite happy with the XT service here in Auckland. I do feel for those who are further down south though. I switched after it was much more cost effective for my wife and I. On my iPhone, I'd stand in the CBD and get around 20 -> 80KB/sec most days while on Vodafone. Not bad, but not great. Sometimes I'd get slightly more (Tested using speedtest.net app) When I switched to XT, I could be sailing 2KM out from Waiheke and still get a solid 6-7m/bits! Calls (for me at least, YMMV) sound 10x better, even in the very rare low-signal areas. There's no longer dead spots driving down the motorway where the call drops every time as there was on Vodafone (Yes, with handsfree of course). I get more, for less money, so while XT's been poor down south, it's brilliant here as far as I'm concerned.

2010-02-22 19:31:00 | And what are Telecom going to give for compensation this time with all of the problems that people have had with XT? Even Vodafone is more reliable than XT . Only because they have a 2G system to fall back on . From what I heard from Vodafone 3G users they fall back to 2G quite regularly . .

2010-02-22 20:26:00 | I'm on XT (in Auckland) and regularly get dropped calls from Vodafone callers. My signal is always 5 bars and I'm sitting still in an office - my callers are more often than not driving (using hands-free I must assume). Hope they get XT sorted by the weekend - I'm heading down to Wellington and back up to Palmy on Saturday. Then travelling through Metlaville (or is it PJ Town, or Beetleborough?) on the way north on Sunday...

2010-02-22 20:59:00 | www.trademe.co.nz Some of the comments are classic! "Perhaps the new marketing slogan could be "We're not satisfied until you're not satisfied." "Seller, I think you're doing it wrong. The advertisement was meant to say "No coverage in 97% of places where New Zealanders live and work" "How much is postage to Palmy? Answer: We can't deliver. I thought everyone knew that already."

They're not the only ones to get their lines crossed: There are two major RNC nodes in NZ, one in Auckland, servicing the north island up to Taupo, and one in Christchurch servicing the rest of the country south of Taupo. Quote from Somebody Is it Vodafone then, providing service north of Taupo? :illogical |
