1139165 2010-09-23 12:44:00 Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me on a problem I encountered today.

My laptop was running on its battery when the battery went flat and of course the laptop turned off. When I plugged it in and turned it back on I found that in firefox some of the fonts on web pages are being forced to Times New Roman font, which would not normally display at this font. An example is on any trademe page the menu titles are now Times New Roman font which I know they should not (photo attached top = current display, bottom = usual display). This is also happening on other web pages as well such as google.
This problem is not only in firefox though, it is occurring in internet explorer and various other programs I am using on my laptop which i think are automatically set to some default font by windows? I suspect a corrupt file somewhere, but do not know what?

I have tried a clean install of firefox which did not fix it. I have done a windows chkdsk at boot to check for errors and scanned for viruses with the latest avast antivirus. I have even tried the zoom option by ctrl + <mouse scroll wheel> as some words are appearing smaller, but this made no difference.

This is a really annoying problem. Does anyone know what is going on?

OS: Windows Vista home premium SP2

Thanks.

1139166 2010-09-23 20:21:00 Looks like Times new roman 16 is the default font in FF (well it is here). Change it under tools / options / content. Maybe the resolution is wrong? Speedy Gonzales (78)
