1139135 2010-09-23 05:28:00 Just courious -- how big is the Drive.

Reason I'm asking looking at the time PCTek posted, and the time it finished is only 14 minutes - Seems to short for a complete drive scan, esp with the R switch.

1139137 2010-09-23 06:03:00 Before you ran chkdsk, and after booting from the Windows CD, was it sitting at the command prompt: C:\Windows\System32>

Depending on the PC spec's, 100GB should take longer than 14 Minutes.

Just ran chkdsk today on a 40 GB drive, OK not that powerful a PC, but that took around 45 Minutes.

C:\dir produced
An error occurred during directory enumeration

1139139 2010-09-23 06:26:00 OOPS :o The command should have been C:\Windows.

Just doing similar here with a heap of junk that was virus infected and the boot loader is :yuck:

Edited: OK so it cant see the directorys.

Boot from the Windows CD, go through the process of doing a repair install, BUT dont, does it see the old installiation of windows, & give you the option to repair it?
