1139069 2010-09-22 22:08:00 On trying to delete highlighted text in a Word 2003 document sent to me, I did the usual thing of pressing "Backspace", but it didn't delete. In order to get rid of it, I had to go to the beginning of the highlighting and then press "Delete". OK, a bit of a nuisance, but I've just tried doing the same thing on another Word document which I am composing, and the same thing is happening. I have checked Microsoft Office Help, both on- and off-line, inputting the words "delete" and "backspace" but with no success. What do I have do to turn on the capability to delete highlighted text using "Backspace"? jno (12040)

replaces selection". Might work.
