2010-02-27 10:39:00 | Its not a modem its a router Well it appears to be a Dlink something anyway and comes with line filters as well. Cheap enough at the price I think.

2010-02-27 11:15:00 | yeh r2x1 is right here perfect, it is a modem.... a router may or might nit contain a modem in side it but if it doesnt you cant use it for connecting.... only can be used for shearing the connections with other peole in the house. | convair580 (15650) | |

2010-02-27 20:16:00 | Many ISP's will sting you another $10 unless you have your phone / tolls with them so investigate that. With that in mind, considering she's not looking to change (Keep in mind she doesn't lose her number if she were to change to somebody such as Orcon) then I'd suggest she has little choice but to go with Telecom. In fact, the Telecom Go plan is just what you're after from the sounds of it, however I'd also suggest that 1GB may be sufficient and she just keep an eye on her first months usage as she does her windows / antivirus updates. If she's been keeping on top of those then she ought to be OK. Personally, I'd avoid D-Link, even the el-cheapo Thomson junk can out-perform it at times. chillingsilence.wordpress.com

2010-02-27 23:05:00 | The Dlink is a perfectly good BB modem. I was using it for my own BB conection before I got a Wireless Modem/router. However, in saying that, I am going to try and encourage her to get a wireless Modem/Router so I will also be able to connect when I visit. Looks like she will be sticking with Xnet for now anyway so that might simplify things for her. She is 73 and has only just gone on the internet with dial up. LL :)

Just remember to wind it back for next month when LWL has departed. How true!:lol::lol: |
