1139041 2010-09-22 14:18:00 Greetings forum!

I had problems with my motherboard so my friend advised me to update is . So I did, and what a bad move was that .
On my computer case it says P4C800-E Deluxe . Now the problem is that my motherboard actually is P4P800-E Deluxe .

And I used AFUWIN to install the latest BIOS of the P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard . So yes, its corrupt .

Now at startup I get:

Bad BIOS checksum . Starting BIOS recovery . . .
Checking for floppy . . .
Floppy not found!
Checking for CD-ROM . . .
CD-ROM not found!
etc . . .

So I searched for the correct BIOS file on the ASUS site ( . asus . com/download/download . aspx?modelname=P4P800-E%20Deluxe&SLanguage=en-us" target="_blank">support . asus . com) and found it ( . asus . com/download/download . aspx?modelname=P4P800-E%20Deluxe&SLanguage=en-us" target="_blank">support . asus . com) .

I downloaded the RAR file containing P4P8E009 . rom (512 kB (524 . 288 bytes)) . Renamed it to P4P800-E . ROM and burned it on a CD-ROM .

Now when I insert the CD, I get the following:

Bad BIOS checksum . Starting BIOS recovery . . .
Checking for floppy . . .
Floppy not found!
Checking for CD-ROM . . .
CD-ROM found .
Reading file "P4P800-E . ROM"
File "P4P800-E . ROM" not found on CD-ROM!
Checking for CD-ROM . . .
CD-ROM found .
Reading file "P4P800-E . ROM"
File "P4P800-E . ROM" not found on CD-ROM!
etc . . .

I tried the original, oldest and newest BIOS versions and all give the same result .

I don't have a floppy drive or floppy's .
I never over-clocked or boosted my PC .

So the last solution I can think of is asking if someone has the Motherboard CD?

Thanks in advance!

1139042 2010-09-22 20:12:00 Why did you rename the file??
Don't rename it.
Extract it and leave it as it is.

1139043 2010-09-22 21:12:00 Yup it needs to be extracted first (its zipped not rarred), BUT it has to be renamed to P4P800-E.ROM (if thats not the name of it). For the flash to work (once you burn it to cd) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1139044 2010-09-23 10:55:00 The motherboard manual always tells you which filename you should use, and this case it is "P4P800-E.ROM" - which appears to be what Damnrus used, and which apparently was right, as indicated by:

CD-ROM found.
Reading file "P4P800-E.ROM"

It might just be some strange issue with the CD, can you try a floppy disk instead?

1139045 2010-09-23 11:01:00 BUT he didnt unzip it, which is what you should do first

As the first post says

I downloaded the RAR file containing P4P8E009.rom. Renamed it to P4P800-E.ROM and burned it on a CD-ROM.

It doesnt say anything about unzipping it first. Its not going to work if you rename a zipped file then burn it, then try and flash it

1139046 2010-09-23 20:18:00 Haha, Thank you for your answers,

I actually did unzip it. The problem might be that its a CD-RW not a usual CD-ROM as I didn't want to use like 10 CDs.
Also I didn't make it bootable, what also might be an issue.

The issue with the floppy drive is - I don't have one.

1139047 2010-09-23 20:27:00 It doesnt have to be bootable . Just reboot, put the CD in, and it should find it / flash the BIOS . Altho, you're right, it probably wont work with a CDRW

If it had to be a bootable CD, this wouldnt appear

Bad BIOS checksum . Starting BIOS recovery . . .
Checking for floppy . . .
Floppy not found!
Checking for CD-ROM . . .
CD-ROM found .
Reading file "P4P800-E . ROM"
File "P4P800-E . ROM" not found on CD-ROM!
Checking for CD-ROM . . .
CD-ROM found .
Reading file "P4P800-E . ROM"
File "P4P800-E . ROM" not found on CD-ROM!

1139048 2010-09-24 01:30:00 CD-RW should work fine, and it doesn't need to be bootable. Agent_24 (57)
1139049 2010-09-24 22:32:00 Can you borrow a floppy drive from somewhere? Agent_24 (57)
