Cycles through boot
Originally computer wouldn’t boot – hard drive faulty
Clean installed windows with new hard drive last week – successfully setup
Owner used the computer until 21st then started cycle through boot
-Attempt to boot to safe mode, gets to mup.sys and then reboots…cycles
-Tried another hdd with windows xp – same cycle pattern
-pulled audio & modem cards: no change still cycles
-pulled, cleaned & reseated ram: no change
-moved the ram to other available slot: no change
-tried another stick of ram 2x: no change
-unplugged front panel (usb, flashcard reader): no change
-disconnected the optical drive: no change

couple other incidentals that might help:
-owner does not have surge spike protection
-use Farmside broadband service

1138919 2010-09-22 04:24:00 the question is how to stop the cycling through boot &/or boot normally NZHawk (4093)
1138920 2010-09-22 04:25:00 Speedy,
I don't think it's a mup problem as it happens with 2 different hard drives.

1138921 2010-09-22 04:27:00 Did you install SP1, 2 or 3 before putting it on the net? If its on the net? Does it still hang on mup.sys when you choose safe mode? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1138922 2010-09-22 04:28:00 SP3 before internet and like I said, it has worked fine for a week after the new hdd & clean install NZHawk (4093)
