add 12hr to times to get nz time.. so will hit wellington just before 8am this coming morning....... scary stuff.

8.8 is a big earthquacke btw guys. the riktor scale is loggerythmic so an 8.8 scale quacke is 8 times more strong than a 8 earthquacke. and a 8 is 10 stronger than a 7......... so this is 18 times strong than the haitie one from the end of jan that was a 7.....

i dont want to go to bed now incase i dont wake up in the morning LOL

862176 2010-02-27 18:53:00 Based on current media reports, the tsunami will be largely irrelevant by the time it reaches our shores. By all means remain alert in case the predictions are wrong, but there is no need for panic. somebody (208)

I agree, wouldn't worry about it. Great if you are a Surfer though.

862178 2010-02-27 19:27:00 wmoore, that sort of advice is just plain stupid. By all means, don't evacuate and panic, but actually going out to the beach to check it out is just asking for trouble. Yes, it will probably end up being nothing, but is it really worth risking it? roddy_boy (4115)

+1. Why take an unnecessary risk?
