1140102 2010-09-28 02:58:00 Hi Guys

Does anyone know of any backup software for Windows 7 (free) that just copies the files as they are in their folders ?

Ie rather than compresing them all into one file ?

I like the idea of this as then the data can be put straight into another machine etc.

At the moment I do it manually using a few vbs scripts, but they are "home written" and very basic and do not work very well.

Thanks

1140104 2010-09-28 03:17:00 Synctoy (www.microsoft.com) is now meant to work on W7 - you can set it to run backups one way if you want.

Edited: can confirm it Does work, just tried it over my LAN, :)

1140105 2010-09-28 03:25:00 Syncback.

Thru the advanced settings you enable delete destinations files if different to the source. Or you can copy the destination files onto the source if different. I use it to sync my internal and my external HDDs.

Does not work with W7 Systems Image folder.

I like writing scripts, I just can't write them properly 1

I used to use Dos Batch files, but that was as far as it went.

I'll check some of those options out thanks guys

1140107 2010-09-28 22:18:00 robocopy c:\ u:\backup /b /a /e /R:0 /W:0 /xj /eta /A-:RASHNT

Dont use Xcopy, it can crash out part way through a copy, especially with multi-nested dirctories (known bug)

robocopy sometimes needs that attrib reset switch at the end with Win7
