| 1139528 | 2010-09-25 07:26:00 | Have got a PC here that was suffering from a few malware infections . Have cleaned it up ok, but the internet is really slow on it - speedtest . net to Chch server only gives about 2 . 4Mbps, but if I plug the same LAN cable into my laptop, I get around 13 . 6Mbps (pretty much normal) . When trying to browse to sites like stuff . co . nz, it regularly times out . I'm wondering if one of the bits of malware has damaged the TCP/IP stack? The other weird thing (or just new to me) is that the NIC is showing as an NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet device in device manager . . . . I didn't even know they made NIC's! |

Weird thing is, I just changed the Speed/Duplex setting in Device Manager from Auto Negotiation to 100Mbps full duplex and the speed seems much better?
