| 1139512 | 2010-09-25 02:37:00 | Hi all, The motherboard seems to be shot on an HP laptop I've got here - I've called HP and confirmed the part number is 447805-001. A replacement one through HP is around the $600 mark which is wildly expensive, I'd rather buy a new laptop if I have to pay that much. The laptop was purchased in the US so it seems an uncommon model here, hence it may be tricky to find it in NZ I think. Can anyone please give me advice on where I might find this part for purchase at the lowest possible price? I really don't know where to look. Any advice around getting a replacement is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

| 1139518 | 2010-09-27 09:54:00 | Hi Guys, Hope this doesn't come across as shameless self-promotion (please let me know if I'm out of line) but I noticed the post and thought I'd chime in. We launched Configra Parts as a dedicated parts/spares division of our main company last year as parts in NZ were too expensive and took too long to source. We operate out of Palmerston North and are completely NZ owned and operated. Until recently we operated B2B only, but we've started the migration across to a public site (and with several thousand SKU's its a big process) so everyone can get access to our range. All parts are new with a full warranty and supported by us in NZ. May I ask what the fault is with your board? If it's what I'm thinking it may not necessarily need to be replaced. |

A replacement one through HP is around the $600 mark which is wildly expensive, I'd rather buy a new laptop if I have to pay that much . The problem with replacing laptop m/b's is : what if its not only the m/b thats faulty, or what if the m/b is actually OK, there are often extra sub-boards that plug into it . Thats why we send them off to HP service agent or a local Laptop repair specialist, let them take the risk of ordering a m/b (or display panel etc) . Laptop MB's can now be repaired in NZ (sorry but that repair company wont deal direct with the public, so cant give details) Refurb m/b's may only have a 3 month warranty & can/do occasionly fail just out of warranty(rarely) . The are considerably cheaper however, when available . Refurb may be on a part exchange basis, check this before ordering from the US . |

| 1139521 | 2010-09-27 22:21:00 | This board was also one of the ones affected by the faulty mini-pci connector that rendered the internal wifi card useless (among a few issues for which HP extended the warranty by 1yr on) so if you do order a used/refurb part watch out for this. If you haven't already done so, unplug the power cord, remove the battery, then hold down the power button for ~5 seconds, release, then plug it back in and try again. If its not powering on or POSTing this commonly works. |
