| 863108 | 2010-03-02 08:58:00 | How long does it take to drive to Wellington airport from Paraparaumu? Would have thought waste of money duplicating flights outta Welly. I guess though it might not be so windy although I dont really know. Have landed there twice in a microlight wasnt too bad. |

| 863111 | 2010-03-02 10:35:00 | It can't come soon enough!! So maybe this time around, people of the Kapiti Coast will support the new service. They didn't support start up services in the past. Forget the local mayor, forget the crap about how many $$$ will flow into the local economy. Airlines survive by bums on seats. If you don't use it you'll lose it. |

Duplicating flights out of WN, I agree. It's been tried several times in the past, but wasn't supported by locals of the Kapiti coast, although in fairness, that may have been due to inadequate equipment. Local winds? Can be gusty but generally quite a few knots less than WN depending on the pressure gradient. (Don't knock WN and its wind, I did most of my ab initio training there). I think the potential is there, but as I said in a previous post, the economics are all about bums on seats, forget the platitudes of the local officials, for this service to survive, Kapiti people will have to back it. |
