862851 2010-03-01 20:36:00 Does anyone know of a good, free alternative? I've got a DVD-RW that someone needs pictures etc off, and it looks like the filesystem is shtuzzed.

I see IsoBuster is now a commercial app (it's been many years since I used it, but it's always been very good).

TIA

Parts of it have been commercial for a while now. What you want to do should still be available "free".

"If you install IsoBuster and want to make use of the free functionality only, click the "Free Functionality" button when prompted.
If you run into functionality that needs to be paid for, you will be prompted. There are no hidden features so you need not to wonder what a paid for version would show extra. You can safely install IsoBuster on your system, there are no xx-days limitations to the free use, you may install at work or wherever you like."

862854 2010-03-01 21:31:00 IsoBuster can see the UDF paths for all the files, but when I try to extract the files I need, I get prompted to register. nofam (9009)
862855 2010-03-01 22:01:00 How about something like Alcohol 52%?
If you make a copy at the lowest speed and ignore bad sectors, it might work.

862856 2010-03-01 22:26:00 I've used ImgBurn with limited success in the past, that could be worth a try. It does a sector by sector copy, you can tell it how many times to re-check dodgy bits and then it will tell you what problems it's found.|

Once had a DVD that was scratched to hell, no DVD player or PC optical drive I tried would play it, used imgburn, it took like 4 hours but when I played the ISO it had created, it went off without a hitch.
