That's drinking and driving in my book. But at the moment you are allowed to have a certain amount of alcohol in your system. Some medications used to contain alcohol like benadryl cough mixture for example. |

Whats the difference between a 21yr old with a low blood alcohol level and a 20yr old with a low alcohol level? |

| 863475 | 2010-03-03 23:29:00 | I think they are trying to set a standard to minimise under 20s drinking at all if they are going to be driving, this seems to be the age group this is targetting, excep the right hand rule | Gobe1 (6290) | ||

Lower the limit it will make criminals of too many people. The law will be an ass. By all means target younger drivers till they mature and stop thinking they are bullet proof. |

Whats the difference between a 21yr old with a low blood alcohol level and a 20yr old with a low alcohol level? 4 good reasons: Youth have not had years to develop a tolerance to alcohol Youth (and alcoholics) are more likely to over indulge, and their lower body mass means it will hit them faster and harder Youth have poorer judgement and are more vulnerable to peer pressure Youth are over represented in vehicle accidents |

This is the typical stupid law making we've come to expect since the SST got their do-gooder politically correct grip over the politicians. Surprised Prefect to find you on this side of the argument but you're quite right. When people find kids start getting fined or locked up for trace amounts of alcohol then the majority might see the folly of passing these sorts of laws and tell the SST where to shove it. Target the damn menace drinkers with high alcohol levels who are the ones killing people. I've only ever in thirty plus years of driving seen a Police check point, on a back road on a Sunday afternoon. Last weekend I twice left the city late at night (Friday night 12.30 am and Saturday night 1.15 am) as sober driver and never saw a Police patrol anywhere. |

Besides - much cheaper not to have a tolerance, you don't need to drink a lot . |
