Sorry Cic, but aviation law - and maritime law - places the onus squarely on the shoulders of the commander.

It was suggested that a commercial plane should do all the things Pre mentioned,I doubt the authorities would permit that attitude to prevail, that is all I was saying.

863137 2010-03-03 06:56:00 Was known as a good aircraft but I never worked out why, instead of having 4 low power darts it didnt just have 2 napier elands or tynes or something with a bit of power.
The dart compressor is just 2 merlin supercharger impellors back to back.
Just as Liberace was the answer to a maiden's prayer:D
Those other two things were just a means of moving oil leaks and malfunctions between maintenance bases.

863138 2010-03-03 06:58:00 A 737 can easily land at Paraparaumu; doing it twice with the same aircraft might be a bit of a trick though. R2x1 (4628)

A bit like the B170 being defined as 40,000 rivets flying in formation?

A bit like the B170 being defined as 40,000 rivets ^frequently^ flying in formation?
Or being admired for being twice as reliable as the Hastings, since it only has half as many Bristol Hercules to contend with. ;)

863142 2010-03-03 07:36:00 Thats helicopters.

I think I'm getting out my depth with you old guys

863143 2010-03-03 07:38:00 Nope, helicopters are totally separate from flying.
Flying employs aerodynamics - fling-wings use Newtons 3rd law. If you throw money down hard enough and often enough a lifting force will be obtained
