1140126 2010-09-29 08:40:00 How are people finding these netbooks ? - have heard some bad things about reliability and build quality. That is why I was thinking Lenovo - especially since it runs in 1080x800 pixels.

Loving mine - for business travel it's great - and as a 3rd machine at home, it's really handy if SWMBO or the kids are on the other two and I need to work. I have a separate desk set up with a 22in Benq, mouse and keyboard - plug in the netbook and away racing.

So far I've found the build quality really good. They don't feel flimsy, and ASUS have put a lot of thought into the design IMO. The chiclet keyboard is good to type on.

The screen size on the 10's (as per imphinity's post) is 1024x600 and I've become used to it pretty quickly. The best thing though is the portability and battery life.

The 1015PED has just arrived today - design is good. Matte screen and case is a lot better. This one has the N475 - and DDR3 RAM (I just put in a 2Gb SODIMM today). It feels snappy for a netbook. Came with a lot of crapware - but slowly working through that. Unfortunately I have to keep Win7 (for work login) - if our company ever change their login interface, that'll go too. ;) Going to put Debian Testing on tonight - and upgrade to KDE 4.5. If I can't get it working, I'll probably go to Sid with KDE4.5.

Camera and mic are OK for skype. Plays movies OK.

All in all - if you want portability and a quality build - I'd highly recommend them.

Will be in Timaru mid Nov. If you haven't made a decision before then, I could bring it through and let you have a play. May be too late for you - but let me know if interested.
