1139909 2010-09-27 20:59:00 Brother has been reviewed poorly on Target.
Canon and Epson were good. More pro's enjoy Epson but Canon might be preferred by more "users" being more glossy and vibrant.

Re: the scanner any would do IMO.
If you want to do some film scanner get one with the approp feature / attachment. For real good stuff, look at dedicated.

1139910 2010-09-27 21:02:00 Have a cheap Epson TX110 which replaced an older model Epson. Good for general use as scanner/printer but like most "cheap" printers, ink costs a bloody fortune. 4 colour cartridges @ $17 each isn't cheap, but that's for the high capacity ones. Really depends on what you want to do with it .... printing photo's .... cheaper & better quality at the Warehouse or Harvey's etc. Standard word processing ... never had a problem with Epson.

I agree with that.
I only justified printing myself when I compared to pro labs printing A4 or larger for my camera club. But now I might ditch my printer b/c the earlier ones weren't that great (2004 era).

I have seen 6x4 photo papers both at the Warehouse some yrs ago and recently in Countdown that 20 sheets of 6x4 cost about $20

1139911 2010-09-27 21:12:00 While HP's hardware usually isnt too bad ,The HP MFC software is truely awefull , bloated & buggy (on average, not every model).
I would bet the HP inkjet carts would be the most expensive by a large margin.
I would NOT recommend lexmark.
The (few) Brother MFCs Ive installed seem OK.
