1139847 2010-09-27 02:30:00 If its in windows now, I would see if that FakespyPro is installed. If it is uninstall it. Disable system restore. Then scan the whole hdd with something Speedy Gonzales (78)

1139849 2010-09-27 02:43:00 Ah ok then. Probably would have been easier connecting it to another system, getting what you want off it. Then formatting it

Then make sure everything (inc Java) stays up to date

Started the reinstall process and got a BSOD

0x0000000A (0xFBC63E78, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X80825843)

Could someone tell me what this stop code is indicating.

Cheers

1139853 2010-09-28 01:41:00 Don't know if this will help anyone,
but prior to this problem I had to replace the ram because it was faulty.
The supplier ran a test on the ram and didn't find anything wrong, but provided a replacement as it was under warranty.
The above problem persisted with the new ram.
I ran another diagnostic on the ram and cam up with fault after fault.
I put in a different stick of ram & ran another diagnostic - passed.
I asked the supplier what the problem was and they explained that some ram become incompatible with some motherboards after windows security updates.

So test your ram if it fails - try another manufacturer.

Thanks all for your help

1139854 2010-09-28 01:52:00 I asked the supplier what the problem was and they explained that some ram become incompatible with some motherboards after windows security updates. WTF -- Take that with a grain of salt.

Windows updates are not going to affect a motherboard.
They may affect the drivers in the OS which talk to the Hardware, but thats about all.

A BIOS update will though, and MS dont put out BIOS updates in windows updates.

Some RAM is not compatible with Some Motherboards, that's quite common. If you have a Compaq or Dell PC, you usually cant just go installing any ol RAM, some wont work.

If you are doing a Memory check Via a Bootable CD, then you are running from that CD, Not the Windows OS. If you were to disconnect the HDD, you can still do a memory check - so a OS change will have no influence at all on a Test.
