1140925 2010-10-01 11:26:00 I haven't.

You could try it yourself maybe.

1140926 2010-10-01 11:33:00 I used to be an AVG free user, then I went to Avast.. now Im on MSSE thingy.. SoniKalien (792)
1140927 2010-10-01 22:09:00 General consensus would suggest that AVG isn't all that good. Microsoft Security Essentials would be the best of the free AV's ... NOD32 the best of paid for. SP8's (9836)
1140928 2010-10-02 00:14:00 AVG has never been that great, and now their latest versions have annoying nagvertisements (I claim creation of that word!) just like AntiVir.

Avast! or Comodo is what I'd use.

Microsoft Security Essentials is OK, but it wants to force you to authenticate Windows. Some people may not want to do that for whatever reason.

1140929 2010-10-02 02:27:00 What joke the AV is :D just installed it on a workshop PC, and cloned another copy of the drive that I was doing the AV tests on last week ( Nod found 73 infections) Tried to scan the slaved infected drive with the latest AVG - three times the infections killed the AV while scanning ------ Yeah real good :groan:

Even though its free, its still a waste of your money.

1140930 2010-10-02 03:04:00 Did you ever try Comodo on that test drive of yours? Agent_24 (57)
1140931 2010-10-02 07:26:00 Did you ever try Comodo on that test drive of yours? No I Hadn't, I forgot, but since you asked, I ran Comodo.

Same story, have an image of the Infected Drive - fresh install of W7, upto date - Downloaded the AV- Comodo installed.Infected drive attached as a slave, then scanned with the AV being tested.

Nod32 found and removed 73 Infections on its infected drive/Scan.

Comodo Found and removed Results (www.imagef1.net.nz) on its infected drive/Scan -- Better than Norton thats for Sure (mind you thats not hard to do) :D

1140932 2010-10-02 18:25:00 Wainui, do you think all of these Virus’s found were genuine?

Over time I’ve found numerous Virus’s on computers that were running fine and their removal didn’t make a blind bit of difference.

Then I’ve read where some of these Virus/Malware/Adware programmes come complete with false positives to make them look good.

All very confusing.
