| 865362 | 2010-03-09 06:52:00 | We looked into similar ones a number of years ago, and decided it wasn't worth the cost. I think there was one made by a company called Quantum, and another sold by a small company out of Kapiti (whose name I cannot remember). |

Do they not realise that sunlight falling on your property and not being harnessed cannot be returned for credit? |

| 865367 | 2010-03-09 19:19:00 | There's two major issues with them - the cost, which others have mentioned, is very high, so getting ROI on one would require you to stay in the house for many years. Solar heating requires the same commitment, but less-so as it's getting cheaper all the time. Second issue is that they still require regular electrical heating to raise the water temperature to a high enough point to kill bacteria that forms in the cylinder - the heat pump isn't capable of doing this itself. Nelson is too sunny to do anything other than solar I think Gaz! |

I would get competative quotes,just to keep them honest,they seem to talk of lots fo freebies,somebody has to pay for. |
