865092 2010-03-08 20:17:00 Hi Guys

I am in the mood to buy Windows 7 (I am on XP now).

In your opinion what is the best version for me to get.

I am thinking about Home Premium OEM.

I am not a gamer, small business use, small home network (3 machines)

865093 2010-03-08 20:19:00 Will you ever want to use the PC on a domain? If not, Home Premium will be fine. wratterus (105)
865094 2010-03-08 20:21:00 Depends what you want (en.wikipedia.org). Speedy Gonzales (78)

Thanks for that, but what do you mean "on a domain"

I have a small website hosted by my ISP.
I once had a static isp number.
Is that what you mean ?

865097 2010-03-08 21:51:00 If you ever want to use the XP feature, Home Premium won't let you play their game, however VMLite is a thrifty way around that.

Yes and KarameaDave from what know you are right, Windows 7 is just an update of Vista with all the carp stripped out of it. There is a limit to what they can do on new O/S's now.

You aren't on a domain. You'd know if you were

865101 2010-03-09 18:37:00 +1 for Home Premium, does what the vast majority of users require, although the network-backup of the Pro / Enterprise / Ultimate is a great feature. Home Premium only does to USB / DVD. Chilling_Silence (9)
