| 1140787 | 2010-10-01 19:47:00 | Yup it should be fine if you reflash it with the U3S6 BIOS update. Then reset the BIOS settings, then configure the BIOS settings etc. Then see how it goes | Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||

| 1140789 | 2010-10-01 20:07:00 | I'm still getting the same. STOP : 0x0000007F (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) -----EDIT----- According to : support.microsoft.com Could my mother be malfunctioning? Or it could be my ram? -- But below it says : 0x00000000 Divide by Zero Error Divide by zero error A divide by zero is caused when a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is 0. Memory corruption (or other hardware problems) or software failures can cause this. |

Sorry phq -- Cant resist this -- Dont know if your mother is malfunctioning, :D but your motherboard may be. :xmouth: OK serious stuff now: Did you try what I suggested in post #4 "Simple test, unplug the HDD, boot from the ubuntu CD - do you get errors still - if so the problems not the HDD. " Boot from the Ubuntu CD, "Try ubuntu" form the options, this will run directly from the CD, it will still be working through the RAM and motherboard, so if there is still errors, then its possibly either RAM, (which you have already tested- so it should be OK) or a faulty Motherboard. IF it still errors, then just to make sure, try running the Ubuntu again from CD on another PC, if it runs OK then the CD is not faulty. One other thing it possibly could be is the Optical Drive not reading CD/DVD's as well, possibly attach another one and see if the same errors occur. EDITED: Are you using the onboard graphics or a separate graphic Card? As a Tech myself, sometimes you have to eliminate each and every component in a PC when Faults like this Occur, generally, what ever is left is the culprit. When it turns "interesting" is when every thing works OK, then its a case there may be a mismatch - OR assemble the components on a bench out of the case an see if the problem is still there - there could be something in the case causing it as well. |

| 1140791 | 2010-10-01 20:40:00 | If you think it might be the CD why not download another one and re burn it, if you don't have a big enough data cap try downloading Puppy Linux instead so much smaller | gary67 (56) | ||

HA ! I just ran the memtest again, got like 20k errors, then I turned it off. It was scaring me. Ubuntu has just loaded. I don't have a graphics card, so I am using the onboard graphics card. I have tried to unplug everything that I can. I just left the optical drive and the obvious stuff. About the case... I just left the usb ports in the mobo. EDIT ::: I didn't get any errors when I tried to install ubuntu with hdd this morning. Could I take the PC to PCWorld and see if they could fix it? If yes, do you know how much it would cost? HAHAHA just spotted the Could my mother be malfunctioning? |

Try a different ram stick, retry, also try different RAM slots on the Board, if other RAM also fails, then it could be the Motherboard Slots that hold the RAM that are faulty. |

But how come that I can run ubuntu if the ram is faulty? |
