| 1140944 | 2010-10-03 21:05:00 | Edited: you do of course know that PC Tools / Spyware Doctor is Now Owned by NORTON (www.pctools.com) :groan: Press Release (www.symantec.com) It has been for a while. I wouldnt recommend the AV part of it, but the spyware scanner is the best Ive used by far. Unfortunately, Id recommend allways removing it after spyware cleanup's. :badpc: Im just waiting for Symantec to Kill it off or render it worthless as well :punk _You MUST change the default settings on ANY av/spyware program if you want a good detection/cleanup AND look at what & where the detections are. The AV/spyware proggies are by default, often set to do a fast scan, not a complete scan. Some detections may be harmless cookies, system restore, infections in old emails (that many AV proggies simply wont scan),or vulnerabilities rather than actual infections . |

| 1140946 | 2010-10-04 08:06:00 | If you read post #12 - the infected drive that AVG failed, and had the TIUOP.SCR-- it was a sneeky one, that was only the tip of the iceberg so to speak -- it infected any USB device as well -- 1st Ran Superantispyware from a CD, as it wouldn't install, Found and removed 979 infections, then booted from the Nod32 Bootable recovery CD - scanned, a futher 402 Infections. Booted the Laptop - ran Combofix - 81 more -- Malwarebytes, a further 35 --- still scanning with other programs tomorrow -Oh what fun :) :nerd: |

| 1140948 | 2010-10-04 20:58:00 | The main infections were basically two exe files, which just went nuts and started replicating by the looks of it -- Which I now have on CD -- Viruses any one ? :devil Bloody hell, what were they doing Usual stuff, downloading music and movies with limewire. |
