1140585 2010-09-29 22:07:00 Hi all, I have just put a fresh install of XP on my laptop, trouble is now I can't get an internet connection to my wireless router.
In the laptop I have had a look in " device manager " it says under " Network adaptors "
1394 Net adaptor
Intel[R] PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network connection
Marvell Yuckon 88E8036 PCI-E fast ethernet controller

But after that it has " other devices " with a yellow question mark on it and it says - PCI Modem.

When I go to network settings I get - 1394 connection
- Wireless network connection- NOT Connected
- Local area connection - Net cable unpluged , not connected.

I can get intenet on my desktop PC but not the laptop, so if anyone could help it be appreciated.
My laptop is a toshiba tecra A3

thanks.

1140586 2010-09-29 22:36:00 In network Connections right click on wireless connection and click on enable if that shows.
Then right click and select repair.
When that finishes select View available wireless networks and try connecting on your network

I clicked on repair and it said - windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed-
Connecting to a wireless network.

then i clicked on view available networks -
it said - no wireless networks were in range.

1140588 2010-09-30 01:33:00 Well I got wireless connection from wireless laptops to my wired router/modem/access point, it seems odd that yours cannot. What is your router model? Or maybe look at the control panel web page for configuration settings (e.g. under network) for your router to see if it's sending out a wireless signal. kahawai chaser (3545)
1140589 2010-09-30 03:23:00 Did you actually install the all the drivers as well as the network / Wireless drivers, either from the supplied driver CD or downloaded from Toshiba Driver downloads (www.mytoshiba.co.nz) wainuitech (129)
1140590 2010-09-30 03:38:00 Thanks fellas, all fixed now.
It was 2 problems, I didn't download the wireless drivers [ stupid me, first time fresh install on a wireless laptop ]
Then reconfiguring to get into my network again.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

1140593 2010-09-30 07:48:00 Good that its going again. Dont worry, not installing the correct drivers is a common event for people that dont know beforehand.

You're correct, not every one knows, every one can always learn something.

Now you'll know in the future :)
