865709 2010-03-10 10:59:00 What's your favourite implausible "computing on the go" ad?

I remember one where the guy is sitting cross-legged on a raft made of rough-hewn logs. One little wave from a passing speed-boat and he can kiss $3K of hardware goodbye.

I recall another where a fellow is standing, holding his full-sized laptop in the palm of one hand, while apparently typing with the other. I guess I could do that ... for about 15 seconds.

To kick things off, how about this one:

htmlgear.lycos.com

I guess it's okay for pressing the PGDWN key, but try keying a string into google while your elbows are immobilized.

865711 2010-03-10 19:42:00 Probably any ad showing a laptop; they never have power leads showing, and often have the user sitting very awkwardly on something near a pool or some such.

Another personal hate are those horribly PC (politically correct, not personal computer!) ads with a bunch of suits hovering around, and pointing at a laptop; there's always an African American type, an Asian/Hispanic looking person, a couple of women, and a square-jawed hero type. Blaaaagh :badpc:

</end rant>

865712 2010-03-10 20:13:00 where the guy has jumped out of a plane, holding a laptop, and it's connecting to the internet, another XT fake I think.

Never sky dived, but I would expect thats almost impossible to do, hold on with one hand while plummeting towards to the ground, the wind would rip it from your hand.

You just wait Wainui, you may have set off a law of physics argument about a plummeting person and laptop.

:lol: I'd try it -- But why jump out of a perfectly good plane.
