| 1141964 | 2010-10-06 00:49:00 | I want to change some fans, so thought better do burns & backups etc. And know precious little, so theres probably pretty obvious answer I currently have some blank DVD +R disks I was under impression for Burn or backup I could use either R-+/- and RW +/-.discs. But today read book and now confused. Book (for a number of models) says. The combination (combo) drive is available on select models. Combines the functions of 2 drives into one:Either a DVD+RW/+R drive (DVD writer) and a CD-RW drive (CD writer), OR a DVD-ROM drive and a CD-RW drive. What you can do depends on what kind of drive you have. Not sure what drive Ive got only thing on system I can find under device manager: DVD/CD-ROM drives > HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H30L I have tried various options on HPs web sites but to no avail. Phone HP, after a long while while he said I have SUPER MULTI 16x DVD +- R-RW X RAM +-RDL LIGHTSCRIBE SATA DRIVE. So confused as book seems to be all + for DVD writer And what Hp guy told me seems to read - for rewritable but both + or for write once. Have HP media centre m5070a Any help be appreciated  |

| 1141965 | 2010-10-06 00:52:00 | www.nero.com Grab that and run it, it will tell you what your drive is able to write to. If it's a combo drive then it won't be able to write to DVDs. These days large flash drives or external hard drives are the preferred method of backing up. |
