1141189 2010-10-02 22:32:00 No sound from the internal speakers but the headphone works OK when it's plugged in. Updated HD audio driver but doesn't help!

Suggestions, please.

1141190 2010-10-02 23:08:00 Vista or xp?
If vista check in Control panel>Sound>Click Playback tab>Click Speakers then Properties>Levels tab.
If XP, rightclick speaker icon in taskbar, click Open volume control>Options>properties.
Check you're not muted or turned down.

1141191 2010-10-02 23:12:00 Further investigation found that the speaker sound device is missing from the playback device list. Right-clicked on the Playback tab of the Sound window, and then select both the Show Disabled Devices and the Show Disconnected Devices options but the speaker still doesn't show up.

Restored the drivers from HP recovery Manager, to no avail.

Where has my speakers gone to? How do I get it back??

1141192 2010-10-02 23:34:00 It's Vista Home Basic.

Performed the drivers update using the automatic search option and has now got back the speaker device but still no sound from the speakers - headphone still works fine. Checked and it's not muted, sound level all OK

I now suspect that speakers are faulty - could be speaker wire loose connection or something like that.

1141193 2010-10-03 00:03:00 If the speakers turned off (or used to) when you plugged in your headphones, maybe the switch on the headphone socket is dirty or broken. feersumendjinn (64)
