867030 2010-03-14 02:39:00 There was plenty of warning from those in the know as to when Sky would switch off its UHF frequencies, so do these same know-it-alls have any idea who will be using these frequencies now?

Will there be three additional free-to-air channels? (Trackside seems to have taken over the Discovery frequency full time.) Are there some companies waiting in the wings? Waiting for the frequencies to become available?

867031 2010-03-14 02:44:00 Maybe used for Sky Sat (www.stuff.co.nz). So, Sky may still use it Speedy Gonzales (78)
867032 2010-03-14 02:47:00 From here (www.nzherald.co.nz):

Sky plans to hand its UHF and radio spectrum back to the Government and trade them for digital terrestrial bandwidth.

The government will probably then sell it to a private company for a profit.

867033 2010-03-14 04:13:00 but then again it may just hold on to the rights (can't remember when its lease expires) to stop competition moving in. tweak'e (69)
