865838 2010-03-11 01:01:00 It depends on which country the ( City ) is in I believe.

How big is a Super City?

865840 2010-03-11 03:11:00 Have a look here: www.citymayors.com
Over twenty cities have more people than the whole of New Zealand!
Wasn't there an old definition that a city was somewhere big enough to have its own cathedral?

865841 2010-03-11 03:14:00 A city has a cathedral.

That is the English definition.

865842 2010-03-11 03:16:00 Which ( of course ) does not apply in NZ. Sweep (90)
865843 2010-03-11 03:19:00 A city has a cathedral.

That is the English definition.Which of course is nonesense.

eg Ponsonby had a cathedral, and its just a small town.

eg Ponsonby had a cathedral, and its just a small town.

Ponsomby is in Auckland.

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines 'city' as 'a large town' or 'any town in the UK which has a cathedral'.

And it applies to NZ.

865845 2010-03-11 03:33:00 I thought it was once any village over 10k pop, or a cathedral, which let Nelson pretend it was important years before it will happen. (Caves, no matter how sunny don't count.) R2x1 (4628)
