| 1141420 | 2010-10-06 08:36:00 | I'm just a noob, and don't know much about computers . So, could any of you experts out there take a look, please? What I think . . . . . . i5 760 ==> 309 . 95 Asus P7P55D-E ==> 240 . 95 Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x2GB ==> 240 . 5 (reference only) Asus GeForce ENGTX460/2DI/768MD5 768MB ==> 362 . 25 (again, reference only) Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 32MB 500GB ==>79 . 32 LG GH22NS50 ==> $34 . 45 ViewSonic VX2439WM ==> $303 . 62 Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 650W ==> $114 . 18 iCute K01-5G1-BB (Black) ==> $84 . 86 Mouse and Keyboard ==> $20 TOTAL: $1790 . 08 This one's probably in a pinch, as the prices are taken at their lowest . But again, there are things in this list that can be reduced, in case the ends don't meet . p . s . I don't have this much to spend on my new PC! |

| 1141421 | 2010-10-06 09:40:00 | whoa, cut back on the graphics. No point having a fancy card if your CPU and mobo will do shite all to make it run. Cut back on your gfx by about $200 spend more on your mobo and cpu. May I suggest this for gfx: www.elive.co.nz | icow (15313) | ||

| 1141425 | 2010-10-07 06:16:00 | If you replace the graphic card with a HD5750, or even an integrated HD4250, then it's squarely a budget PC. An Athlon II X2 245 is about the same level as a Pentium E5400! Motherboard uses old 740G chipset, which is not very futureproof. Get something starting with an 8; some 890's, even 880's will support Phenom X6. 120GB HDD is TOOOOO small, IMHO. In fact, it's more economical to go for a 500GB HDD. And get a larger monitor and/or better keyboard and mice if you have enough left over. Conclusion: graphic card definitely doesn't fit the rest of the system. You'd probably feel like you're not using a $1000 graphics, with all the other parts slowing your graphics down. p.s. were you carefully calculating the totals? If you are, then forget about my post. |

What I think...... i5 760 ==> 309.95 Asus P7P55D-E ==> 240.95 Corsair Dominator DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x2GB ==> 240.5 (reference only) Asus GeForce ENGTX460/2DI/768MD5 768MB ==> 362.25 (again, reference only) Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 32MB 500GB ==>79.32 LG GH22NS50 ==> $34.45 ViewSonic VX2439WM ==> $303.62 Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 650W ==> $114.18 iCute K01-5G1-BB (Black) ==> $84.86 Mouse and Keyboard ==> $20 TOTAL: $1790.08 This one's probably in a pinch, as the prices are taken at their lowest. I don't have this much to spend on my new PC! eh?, i dont know what Ive missed but there is nothing wrong with the above combo as far as I can see, if anything get the 1Gb model 460, not 768Mb, you have a full HD LCD and the GPU will need all that memory! edit - The case is a bit naff! |

It's *not* just a RAM difference. For a meagre $30 increase the 1GB card is significantly better. I'm not a huge fan of Cooler Master PSUs. Corsair would be my choice, but it'll be ~$60 more probably. |

| 1141429 | 2010-10-08 06:11:00 | To SolMiester and inphinity: I've chosen the 768MB model over the 1GB one is because I hear that the 1GB one has 128bit memory bandwidth, while the 768MB has 192 bits. Of course, I might be mistaken. I used the same PSU, case, and burner as OP's. But if we take those things into account then we can only get an i3 :p |
