866364 2010-03-12 21:13:00 Boxing is cheap,just rip some of that down,what do you think S? Cicero (40)
866365 2010-03-12 21:20:00 If you use cedar the nails won't hold very well either due to it's softness gary67 (56)
866366 2010-03-14 03:46:00 I have in the past seen painters using sugar bags partially filled with sand under each end of sturdy plank. The sand bags distribute the weight and make a stable platform. Have also seen 25--50 mm polystyrene used in the same manner
Make sure you use a drop sheet to stop any paint splashes on the lovely new tiles.

866367 2010-03-14 03:51:00 Cheers guys, went with the "cat ladder" idea - old battens cut down for weight distribution and screwed to 150x25x2400 (times 2) boxing timber.

(I have big feet, that's why 150 wide and not 100 - still easy to manoeuvre).

Works great!!

866368 2010-03-14 05:30:00 Bah. The answer is always beer! Greg (193)
866369 2010-03-14 05:38:00 Beer doesn't have good coverage properties or colourfastness on weatherboards.

However it does do wonders for energy levels and frame of mind after spending several hours with a sander or paintbrush 3 or 4 metres above the ground (once down off the roof, of course).
