| 1141606 | 2010-10-04 21:08:00 | Have you tried the CoreAVC codec for playback? It accelerates 720HD h.264 content on my athlon 1800+ such that it is quite watchable (as long as the bitrate is around 2mbits). Not sure what program you use to output freeview, so not sure if CoreAVC can be used. But I use it with media player classic and works a treat. |

| 1141607 | 2010-10-04 21:16:00 | This comes with AverTV (its own program). Its an Avermedia USB DVB-T tuner. It shows whats on TV, records in MP4 or H.264. And also supports teletext and FM. It works better in Vista (than it does in Win7). Only thing is, in Vista it uses quite a bit of CPU. Which is why I'll change the card to a Nvidia based one. But in Win7, it lags, and it's out of sync (if you record something - If you use Media Center or AverTV). This doesnt happen in Vista |

I was looking at this: www.ascent.co.nz And this: www.ascent.co.nz Also, as far as I know, as long as the card is DVB-T it will support FV? might not be quite accurate but these cards support FV annyway. Plasma TV's have crashed in price, I could pick up a full HD 46'' for about $1800, LCD and LED not so cheap |

| 1141609 | 2010-10-04 22:19:00 | Just buy a Freeveiw decoder on Trademe, I got a Zinwell for $100. It is soo much less hassle than PC based TV tuners. I gave up using my HTPC tuners . Although the Zinwell is very slow for program guides etc |

| 1141610 | 2010-10-04 22:19:00 | If its DVB-T its terrestrial. So, should support FV. From what I've read, the program / and drivers for some of those cards are crappy / buggy. I suppose I could use a PCI-E card, but this was cheaper than a card. Or a decoder. And its better on this monitor, since its HD |

The PCI-FM tuner is an analog tuner, the Nova S is a Satellite tuner. If you are going with Hauppauge, get a Nova T, or an HVR card. The Nova-T's are digital terrestrial cards only. The HVR cards are hybrid tuners with digital/analog tuners. Basically you want to get a card that specifies it includes a DVB-T tuner. |
