1141088 2010-10-02 07:16:00 lol I've never used or had anything with E-SATA on it before. So, didn't know that the cables (according to the net, so I found out), are different (the internal and the ones for external). I was going to test it (but then found out none of the cables I've got would fit). :badpc:

Umm I think ( for some mobos), if you want hotswapping to work, you have to remember to enable AHCI in the BIOS first (and before you install Windows).

I suppose the good thing about the case, is its got power as well. Which, (I hope) will save me from buying an external case and power supply. When I brought it down the road, it was $80 (cheaper than the previous case).

I asked the guy in the shop what was the round port for. He said its for the keyboard  Which I thought sounded a bit odd. Since there's only 4 pins on it. A PS/2 kb has 6.

You would think if someone is selling a case, they'll know what the ports on the front of the case are for

1141090 2010-10-02 07:32:00 I think the main diff is, the cable you need both sides have the raised bit on the side (so it slots in). The cables I've got, only one side has the raised bit. Which is why they wont fit. So, its not the connection on the case, I would have to cut, it would be the connection on the cable Speedy Gonzales (78)
1141091 2010-10-02 14:00:00 The round one looks like an s-video out/in (analog video signal) but it could also be someones silly idea at getting external power (I have an external HDD that has the same PS/2 connector as the KB/mouse port for the power supply) Deimos (5715)
1141092 2010-10-02 19:46:00 Its not a svideo connection. Its got a SATA connection on the inside Speedy Gonzales (78)
1141093 2010-10-02 22:09:00 So i guess its an alternative E-SATA connection method The Error Guy (14052)
1141094 2010-10-02 22:10:00 Umm yup. But I wont find out, till I get the right cable, to see if it actually works Speedy Gonzales (78)
1141095 2010-10-03 03:00:00 internal SATA type connectors aren't robust enough for repeated plugging in / out as happens with external drives so the E-SATA connectors were created to fix that, also some E-SATA cables seem to be screened.

It is the exact same interface just on a different connector. Also many M/B bios's don't support safe removal or hot swapping of SATA drives so they tend to not show up in the safely remove list which can be a problem.

Awesomely fast though :)
