865881 2010-03-11 04:08:00 Dont really care. I'm usually in IRC, here, or on news / PC sites. Thats about it Speedy Gonzales (78)
865882 2010-03-11 04:26:00 Apparently only 2 ISPs are using it. The problem with any system like that, is that a legitimate site may get blocked eventually, and then it is the legitimate users that end up being disadvantaged. robbyp (2751)
865883 2010-03-11 07:54:00 How would they stop you using a VPN to a proxy? I don't see how it could possibly work. Twelvevolts (5457)

They can't. Wherever there are things put in place to stop something, there will be work arounds. But it'll block the majority of users from accessing "child porn" and etc.

865885 2010-03-11 09:23:00 Agreed that child porn should be blocked.

Then the powers that be might decide that PressF1 is not as innocuos as we think it is.

Goodbye Forum.
That is the problem. They had a few problems in Aussie with legitimate sites getting blocked.

My point exactly.

In Chat there are a number of discussions that may offend when you look for keywords.

865887 2010-03-11 10:24:00 What a load of crap, all it does is allow for the abuse of the filter, when people decide to block things that don't deserve to be blocked (and who decides what is bad and what isn't) And you can be damn well guaranteed this will happen, of course.

That and the fact that it WON'T WORK.

If someone wants to share illegal pornographic material they can quite happily do it using an encrypted darknet program or whatever.

And guess what - because of the filtering that option will now be more popular, making these kind of people harder to track down!

CONGRATULATIONS WHOEVER IMPLEMENTED THIS, YOU'RE A F**KING IDIOT!!

865888 2010-03-11 10:28:00 They have done such a good job of informing us as to what they have decided is proper for us, it is quite certain they will be equally good at telling us whatever else becomes unsuitable for viewing. (Unless we don't need to know.)

The whole process is so transparent and run by such well known and liked pillars of society that we need not trouble ourselves any further, the country's in the very best of hands.

865889 2010-03-11 10:35:00 I could have a load of porn or whatever and put the lot on a site or allow remote access to my pc.

The material could be encrypted fiirst and in a zip file with a password.

By the time anyone sorted it I think I'd be dead and therefore somewhat uninterested.
