| 1141275 | 2010-10-03 04:13:00 | Does the bios for the Phenom IIX2 550(HDX550WFK2DGM) have automatic shutdown when it gets too hot? Can't find anything about this on the net. |

Go into your BIOS, if you have a shutdown or overheat temp warning listing then yes it will . All good quality boards do . |

| 1141281 | 2010-10-03 05:14:00 | Reading the BIOS settings section of the manual, or just look through the BIOS setup itself should tell you pretty quick if there is a user settable option. | Agent_24 (57) | ||

| 1141283 | 2010-10-03 06:07:00 | Yeah I can't find anything either. The cheap Asus boards don't seem to have everything. I had one which didn't even have fan speed control. Best bet is to run a hardware monitor program and set it to alert or shutdown if the temperature is exceeded. |

AMD Processors introduced CPU based thermal shutdown with AMD64 and beyond. It's not the CPU - it's the motherboards that have that. Or not. Go into your BIOS, if you have a shutdown or overheat temp warning listing then yes it will. All good quality boards do. Incorrect over processor, correct with mobo comment. |
