Hi,
My desktop has decided to play silly buggers and so I would like to know of a good computer repair shop in Palmerston North.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers

1142744 2010-10-08 21:13:00 If you post the actual problem here there are more than a few experts that will help sort it out.
People on this forum have repair shops etc but give advice free to many questions posted here.
Just get your problem posted and wait for results.

1142747 2010-10-08 22:13:00 Hi,
Yes same problem,I managed to load Windows 7,but it would not activate,it is only update so I figured that I would reinstall Vista and then update with 7.
But the symptoms are the same,I have tried removing the ram, changed the harddrive, but nothing will install.

cheers

1142748 2010-10-08 22:18:00 Did you update the BIOS? How much ram is in it? I would try a stick in each slot. That stop error may mean the slot is stuffed. If it is, you may have to replace / RMA the mobo Speedy Gonzales (78)
1142749 2010-10-08 22:26:00 Hi Speedy,I'm not very comfortable updating the bios,so I haven't done that,but I have removed ans swapped the ram around.No results.

cheers

1142750 2010-10-08 22:31:00 How difficult is it to update the bios with no operating system installed?

1142751 2010-10-08 22:40:00 You do it in the BIOS. You dont need DOS or an OS. Reboot go into the BIOS. Go to tools / EZ-Flash 2. Extract / unzip the BIOS update to a flash drive first (make sure you get the right BIOS).

Put the flash drive in. Then point it to the update. Wait for it to finish flashing. Then reboot, go back into the BIOS, set it to its default settings, then reconfigure it
